this was just too good to pass up.
The Lonely Pleasure, From Sin to Symbol Medieval Christian theologians devoted pages to sexual sins, but they lacked both a word for masturbation and a pressing interest in the subject. "Burchard of Worms, a major late-10th-, early-11th-century figure, was far clearer than most in specifying what we understand as masturbation," Mr. Laqueur writes, "but he thought little of it: 10 days of mild penance if a boy did it alone; three times that if in company."

Pentagon Sending a Team of Exiles to Help Run Iraq By setting up office outside of the Pentagon, with telephone numbers and e-mail addresses that gave no hint of their government ties, he said, "they have gone to some lengths not to be seen that way."

republikan paraphrasing scares the shit out of me. it's not only so far out there on point, but it is void of any intelligent logic. bringing hitler into the game, again, is typical of the hypocrisy repugs will stoop to enforce that 'evil, everything's evil, unless it's something i approve'. wretched even moreso is the fact that Americans are buying into this shit. right and left, no pun intended.

It really is too bad we got into World War II. After all, one of the triggers of the war was our oil embargo against Japan. So the war really was all about oil.
And when you think about it, we really should have just handled things diplomatically through the League of Nations. After all, "what did Adolf Hitler ever do to us?" - to paraphrase Susan Sarandon.
Why should we have been concerned if he killed a bunch of Jews? I mean, really, it is just like using poison gas on a bunch of Kurds. Nothing we should be concerned about. At least not enough to risk the lives of American soldiers.

Iraq Liberation Act
Let me be clear on what the U.S. objectives are: The United States wants Iraq to rejoin the family of nations as a freedom-loving and law-abiding member. This is in our interest and that of our allies within the region.
The United States favors an Iraq that offers its people freedom at home. I categorically reject arguments that this is unattainable due to Iraq's history or its ethnic or sectarian make-up. Iraqis deserve and desire freedom like everyone else. The United States looks forward to a democratically supported regime that would permit us to enter into a dialogue leading to the reintegration of Iraq into normal international life.
My Administration has pursued, and will continue to pursue, these objectives through active application of all relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions. The evidence is overwhelming that such changes will not happen under the current Iraq leadership.

this whole war had a whole 'nother effect that i havent seen addressed yet. the psycops, or as i like to spell it... PSYCHOPS. chop up that psyche of normal Americans into itsy bitsy pieces - calling protesters anti-American for example - then one by one, reshape them into what ever agenda is at hand. or planned. which brings up the thought i had wanted to jot down, but then it flew right outta my head.
how many people have profited today, from yesterday's actions? how about actions from _two days ago? how 'bout a week. a month? hell, a year, 5 years... twenty years. *quiver* the fact that we have people in power, that were in power 20 years ago, shouldnt negate any consideration what actions took place twenty years ago that are just now bearing fruit.
